Name: The Celestial
Allegiance: The Celestial Empire
Race: Human
Age: 26
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 165
Eyes: Green
Hair: Brown

Strengths: A silver tongue and a titanium arm. His original genetic experiments left his physiology drastically altered and he is still trying to come to grasp with his full abilities. Also, being the leader of all of Arcadia as well the CEO of a massive genetics and nanotechnology corporation tends to have some benefits.

Weaknesses: Not a particularly combat-minded individual. Tends to lose control when he actually fights, doing or saying things he woulnd not usually do or say. Stale sense of humor. Alcohol dependant. Trusts too easy.

History/Background: The Celestial came to Arcadia years ago, and has seen most of what this land can offer. He has witnessed times of peace, times of war, times of social unrest, times of betrayal, times of exodus, times of prosperity. Through all of this times one constant reared it's head: conflict. Whether a full-blown war or simple duels between friends, fighting has existed and has steered Arcadia through the ups and downs.

Celestial loved the conflict and fed off of it almost as much as the land itself. He had been on sidelines for every major conflict that has occurred. Observing. Studying. Scheming. From Armacgeddon to Arcadia's first organized tournament three years ago, Celestial was there. The tournament especially captured his imagination. After the first tournament ended abruptly, Arcadia was thrown into yet another period of anarchist battles where friends turned on friends, no alliances existed, and everyone was drawn into the fray. Seeing this opportunity to make a name for himself, Celestial dove headlong into the fire of war.

The Celestial's first taste of battle saw him against hardened war veteran Sonic who would later become a close confidant. Celestial suffered several gunshot wounds but recovered abnormally fast. Halfway through their fight, Sonic and Celestial were distracted by other combatants and went their separate ways.

Empowered by fighting such a war legend and not being torn asunder, Celestial pompously challenged an elderly man in a giant robot, a World War II bombardier, an angry Jedi, and two drunken fools (one of which rumored to be an incarnation of the current day Spectre-x) at the same time. This resulted in Celestial suffering a horrible bout of diarrhea due to the elderly man's "Prune-Beam" and being forced to take shelter in a nearby Port-a-Potty.(1)(2)(3)(4)

After conquering the territory of the dreaded Port-a-Potty, Celestial found himself thrown into conflict yet again when porn-a-holic Jedi named Obiwan overturned the portable toilet in the most vicious of way (force powers were not meant for that). Obiwan then flayed off Celestial's face then posed as him to get a free ride to the hospital.(1)(2)(3)(4)

The Celestial was not deterred by the loss of his face and gave chase. After locating a suitable mask, Celestial found Obiwan at the hospital and turned his knowledge of genetic modification onto his incapacitated foe. When Obiwan awoke, he found himself the proud owner of a new pair of breasts but missing his "little Jedi". In a rage, Obiwan turned his anger on Celestial crotchal regions.(1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(8)

If the Celestial learned anything from the previous months, it was that he was ill-suited for the vigors of war in his current state. Retiring himself from the path of combat, he turned back to the way of genetics and nano-technology. Unable to find sufficient test subjects, many of his first experiments he performed on his own body. Many of these first tests altered his physiology drastically, and quite painfully at times. Many of his early tests utilized the blood of several "outsiders" he managed to procure, including both infernal and "celestial" beings. The cloning process was quite the success though, and before long he had produced his first fully functioned duplicate of himself. Using nano-machines, he was able to control the clone's thoughts and actions as if it was an extension of his own body. Unfortunately though, the clone inherited his inability to fight and Celestial found himself seeking more powerful subjects to perform his tests on.(1)

In the following months, Celestial Genetics and Nanotech (CGN) sprung from nothingness and soon became a massive corporation, the likes of which had been unseen in Arcadia. Few people knew about CGN's mysterious leader until one day Arcadia hosted its first ever presidential election. Seeing this as his chance to grasp control over all of Arcadia in one fell swoop, The Celestial used the monetary assets of CGN to make his claim at the presidency. Although his platform was considered one of the strongest of the field (violence and underage lesbian schoolgirls), he fell short in the final polls to Noom, he quickly became known as the Commander-in-Briefs due to his pantless approach at the position. (1)

Soon thereafter, The Celestial appeared on the front page of the newspaper and on every channel, stating that he was sponsoring a Battle Tournament like Arcadia had never seen before. Combatants from every corner of the land swarmed to Celestial's massive tower in the heart of the city, seeking glory and a respite from the time of peace that had hung over land for quite the time.(1)(2)

The vast array of talent made Celestial dizzy with aspirations and over the first portion of the tournament he had gathered enough genetic material from each contestant to being producing carbon-copy clones of each one. In the first round of the tournament though, one combatant captured his attention resolutely and Celestial sought her out after she fell in combat against her opponent. Bringing Pennywise back to Celestial tower, Celestial breathed life back into her and took her under his wing. He originally used nano-machines to control her actions, but soon trusted her enough to remove the control devices from her.

Over the course of the tournament, Celestial's sinister plot became more evident to the combatants of the tournament. In one case, Anaximander, Commander in Briefs, Toji, and SPI, in their epic battle against each other, ended up discovering one of Celestial labs housing dozens of clones. Fearing that they would turn against him, Celestial promised to fight all of the winners of the next round himself.

Five brave combatants stood strong after the "betrayal" round: Spectre-x, Nicolai Mayday, SPI, Golden Yak, and Mr Dave. Instead of facing off against all five combatants as promised, the Celestial brought out his elite team to combat his opponents. Faithful friend and assistant, Lexxy. Sword for hire, NightDragon. The uncontrolled Pennywise. Celestial's first opponent, Sonic. And Anteros, who Celestial personally travelled into the Anti-verse to recover.(1)

The dust had settled at Celestial Tower with less then predictable results for The Celestial. “Team Celestial”, his shoo-in to quell the out of control combatants, had failed in their purpose. Nightdragon disappeared soon after her fight with Golden Yak began. Sonic disappeared (in typical ninja fashion) soon after he defeated Mr Dave. Lexxy had lost her “fight” with SPI, but had thankfully returned to the fold.

MagicToaster’s disappearance disturbed The Celestial the most. He had lost track of her fight against Mayday somewhere in the sub-levels of Celestial Tower. A post-match investigation showed that someone had gotten into his databases and obtained information that they shouldn’t have. MagicToaster never agreed with what Celestial was doing, what with the cloning and genetic engineering, and he feared that her damned sense of humanity may have gotten the best of her.

At the conclusion of Spectre-x's fight with Anteros, Celestial made a vapid threat to use a device to blow the heads off of all the remaining combatants and in the confusion he ran off and charged Anteros to guard his retreat. Either unable to control the effect of SPI lycanthropy or just a tinge of humanity, Anteros turned on Celestial and forcefully removed the device from his possession, as well as Celestial's right arm. Seen as no longer a threat, Celestial slinked back into the depths of his tower. As Lexxy cauterized the massive wound closed, Celestial watched as SPI and Spetre-x tore into each other in what could be called the 'Fallen Tournament's Finale'.

The next months were a busy time for the Celestial. Celestial Genetics and Nanotech had gone bottom up after the fallout from the tournament and forced Celestial to work, yet again, underground. Utilizing what remained of his labs spread about Arcadia and the last of his dwindling funds, he began to work on his most ambitious project ever. Using the genetic material from every combatant in the previous tournament, he created what could only be called a genetic "stew" and used that mixture to create his own personal army of Clone Commandos. Before long, he commanded thousands of these genetic troopers.

The "stew" was of course a distilled version of most of the genetic material he garnered from the previous year. He kept the bulk of the highest quality material for himself to use on his own personal experiments, which he still runs on himself to this day in an attempt to better his own existence.

Celestial Tower was slowly rebuilt as well, as it bore massive damage from the tournament as well. Along with the new tower, Celestial worked vigorously at rebuilding himself a new arm using the most cutting edge of bionics and nanotechnology. As the finishing touches were placed on the tower and Lexxy attached Celestial's new arm, the call for war came yet again for Arcadia.

Unfamiliar with combating massive forces of troops, the free citizens of Arcadia rolled over for the approaching forces of Celestial Clone Commandos (C3) and provided very little resistance. Led by powerful combatants, some of which had fought in the previous year's tournament, a few small pockets of resistance sprung up. These rebels lacked the backing an communication to pose a major threat to the organized troops of C3 troops and were forced to flee to the west, far from the city.

The transfer of power in Arcadia from an autonomous collective to a pure dictatorship took mere days. Most of Arcadia's citizens hardly noticed the change and continued their life as they always had. Arcadia was born in conflict and this was just another of the unending conflicts that she would sail through.

Celestial tried to focus on taking care of his new duties as supreme ruler of the land, but he was always thinking, always planning for the time that a revolution would occur and the specters of his past would come back to haunt him.

Celestial FAQs:
Q: Why the war?
A: As explained earlier, he has a very strong vision for how he sees Arcadia and is dedicated to fulfilling it. While he would rather not force it, that is the only viable option remaining to him.

Q: Wings? Double-u tee eff?
A: Also, as stated above, many of the his early genetic tests were carried out on his body since he did not want to endanger anyone else nor did not want to share any abilities. Of course, he is unaware if the manifestation of the wings is due to the testing or his original DNA.

Q: So, why doesn't he fly around all the time?
A: He can't really control them. The few times that they have manifested were in times of intense danger. (Jumping from an exploding helicopter, escaping the Ante-verse, etc).

Q: What was the black and red arm from the Round Seven?
A: Once again, a previously unseen manifestation that even he was unaware of. He's been attempting to replicate it, but with no avail.

Q: Does he have a significant other?
A: Not at this time. He's pretty pre-occupied with running a war and ruling a nation to put the effort into forming a lasting relationship with anyone. That's not saying he'd be against it though.

Q: Who's this cat-girl that shows up with him sometimes?
A: That would be Lexxy. She was an original member of Team Celestial in the 2006 tournament and has stuck around as a close aide and friend to Celestial. Out-of-character, it's one of Lexxy's characters that she let's me "borrow".

Q: Does he have a family? A childhood?
A: Yep. His mom and dad are Arcadians that moved away from the nation when he was around 5. He has two older sisters and two older brothers (yeah, he's the baby of the family). After moving back to Arcadia when he was 16, he lost most contact with them.

Q: Is he actually a pedophile?
A: *shakes head* No.

Q: I hear "Lawful Neutral" alot when people mention Cel. What does that mean?
A: Forgive the D&D geek in me, but it's from the alignment system used in alot of tabletop games. Directly from their website...
Quote:
Lawful Neutral is called the "Judge" or "Disciplined" alignment. A lawful neutral character typically believes strongly in Lawful concepts such as honor, order, rules and tradition, and often follows a personal code. A Lawful Neutral society would typically enforce strict laws to maintain social order, and place a high value on traditions and historical precedent. Examples of Lawful Neutral characters include a soldier who always follows orders, a judge or enforcer that adheres mercilessly to the word of the law, a disciplined monk, and the Dungeon Master of a D&D game.

Characters of this alignment are neutral with regard to Good and Evil. This does not mean that Lawful Neutral characters are amoral or immoral, or do not have a moral compass; but simply that their moral considerations come a distant second to what their code, tradition or law dictates. They typically have a strong ethical code, but it is primarily guided by their system of belief, not by a commitment to Good or Evil.

Basically, Celestial does what needs to get done to get the job done. War sucks, straight up. For it's a necessary evil to accomplish his goals.

Top three are done by CatnipCat. "HAY GUYZ" face by DeeLock. Z.J.'s next to that one. Drinking one by SPI. Smarmy face and TCE logo by The Wretched. Mick Jagger face by T_O. Next two by Spex. Bottom row has the first two by Sin and the final one by SPI(pre-bionic arm).

Speaking of Bionic Arms, here's some shots from the comic by Toji explaining the reason why that arm is there.

After some fighting between Spex, Anteros, and Spectre-Y...

Then Anteros' little transformation bit aaaaand...

Ah, the good ol' days. Well, enough reminising. Here's some propanganda shots from this year's folks...

It's been a while, so here's a massive drop of art that has been floating around for a while.

First up we have a fine collection of shots put together by Paladin.

Followed up by a brief collection of shots done by Shilane including a female version of Cel as well as two pieces of Cel in a more formal outfit and (as she calls it) the ultra-emo Cel.

Here's the presents left for me inside my sketchbook from WFA Con 07-08 in Seattle from Nasha...

Anthrax...

Toji...

and Naeru.

And speaking of Naeru, here's another random one of Cel.

And wrapping up this batch of shots is ones by Qyzex...

Ben...

and of course then uber-cute rendition by Perca.

Alrighty...another batch of cameos and fanart.

First up is Cel's private dance routine by NotDawg.

Followed by a quieter private moment in Celestial Tower by Perca.

And here are various scraps from the fights over the last two rounds and some fanart.

Let's see if I can get them all right...: Snow Devil by Nasha, Cel in plainclothes by E12, Cel with Ringo's arm by Rabid Peanut below it, three more Cel shots by Nasha down the side, "Doomed" Cel by NotDawg, Cel dancing with...someone by Shilane, yet another Cel-shot by Nasha, and finally another "Doomed" Cel by Paladin.

And here comes the parade of fanart from Perca... First up is Celestial...as a raccoon...I dunno either. She's crazy.

And side shot in a character study.

And she drew this one when I was complaining about people at my office.

And Neon and Cel in Data Rock tracksuits.

And in case you missed it, I am (apparently) awesome. Even when dressed as a C3.

And here's Celestial in plainsclothes for an upcoming War Story.

And a Celestial background for everyone by her, since, you know, that's always requested.

Jeez, I haven't updated in a while. I keep telling myself "I'll do it next week, I'll do it next week" and the art keep piling up. I suppose that's a good problem to have but...anyway. To the art!

First up is two pages of scraps picked out of the junkheap thread. It's going to be hard to ID everyone that drew something there, but I'll try. There's Koko, Toji, Yosai, Jackster, Dx2, a few from Qyzex, Anthrax...and a few I can't remember or decipher. Sorry!

Sageby, Genome, Bunni, Shilane, Pandamonium, and Qyzex again.

Next up is a few shots from Yosai...

...and a mini-comic by Koko (featuring Naeru).

(Speaking of her) Here's one by Naeru, featuring the women of TCE.

And here's another group shot with Celestial, drawn by Shilane, and a shirtless study she did while I was in LA.

Along that line, here's a piece that Sin did while I was in LA as well.

Perca drew Celestial taking Neon(R.I.P) out for a walk before their Round Nine team-up.

And here's one from Baratacom.

Carko proves in this page from her battle in Round Nine that Cel truly gets the best channels in Arcadia...

...which he pays for with Arcadia bucks! (drawn by Ben)

Alrighty. Now that the random ones are out of the way. Here's the bulk of the stuff I needed to update. These all came from the weekly fanart jam focused on Celestial. Hold on, here we go...

(sticking with the theme) First up is Ben. (who has waaay too much time to draw. :P)

Genome.

Nero.

Tin Woodsman.

Bunni.

Gamera.

Baratacom.

Garrett.

Dartboy.

Einheit12.

Deathstroke.

NotSlade.

Pandamonium.

And Naeru.

Thanks to all of you for your works. It still blows me away.
